You deserve the most advanced surgical care and the most complete patient service
When you need surgery – or want to feel confident that a loved one is receiving the best care – you can take comfort in knowing that Novant Health surgeons are among the top in their field.
From same-day outpatient surgery to complex open heart surgery and total joint replacement, Novant Health provides the highest-quality surgical care. We cover a broad array of surgical disciplines using the latest techniques such as robotic and other minimally invasive surgeries.
We operate in advanced surgical suites with the newest computerized technology, which enables your surgeon to view X-rays or images from your surgery during the procedure.
Minimally invasive surgery - Novant Health’s surgeons are trained and experienced in a variety of minimally invasive approaches to bariatric, plastic, gynecologic, urologic and many other surgical specialties. Minimally invasive surgery uses smaller incisions, highly specialized lasers, robotics, laparoscopes, endoscopes and video technology. When your surgeon uses minimally invasive techniques, it results in faster recovery, reduced pain, minimal scarring and decreased risk of infection.
For some procedures, we can perform single-incision laparoscopic surgery, which results in even less scarring.
Robotic surgery - The da Vinci Surgical System® is often referred to as a robot, but is actually a precise, computerized system controlled by the surgeon. This system combines the best features of minimally invasive surgery with the skill of your surgeon. Patients undergoing robotic surgery experience a shorter hospital stay, less pain, less risk of infection, less blood loss and transfusions, less scarring and quicker return to normal activities.
Patient services - We want the logistics of your surgical procedure to be as smooth as possible, so we offer toll-free telephone or online pre-registration for your surgery. You can download our pre-procedure guide for adults or our pre-procedure guide for children, which include helpful general information you will need before surgery, including arrival times, pre-procedure meals and documents to bring with you.
You can also visit the frequently asked questions page for answers to questions related to surgical procedures.
Following surgery, you will receive specific discharge instructions before you leave the medical center or surgery center. We will discuss these instructions with you and your caregivers and will also give you a written copy to take home with you.
If you have any questions about your discharge instructions after you get home, please don’t hesitate to call your surgeon’s office.
