Quality care for brain and spinal cord disorders
If
you or a loved one suffers a stroke or another brain-related
condition, you need access to great care. You have that at Novant
Health Brunswick Medical Center. Our team of specialists can provide
diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of conditions that affect the
brain and nervous system.
Brain aneurysms
A
brain aneurysm occurs when part of an artery wall weakens and swells.
Symptoms include:
-
Sudden,
severe headache that is different from past headaches
-
Severe
neck pain
-
Blurred
vision
-
Confusion
or loss of consciousness
-
Sensitivity
to light
-
Nausea
with vomiting
-
Seizures
If
you or a loved one experiences these symptoms, call 911 immediately.
If an aneurysm ruptures, it is a life-threatening medical emergency.
Neurosciences telemedicine network
Brunswick Medical Center participates in this network so that
you always have access to a highly qualified neurologist with 24/7
videoconferencing. This service is readily available in an emergency
or for ongoing treatment.
Rehabilitation
If
stroke or another neurological condition has left you or a loved one
affected by physical, speech and cognition deficits, our
multidisciplinary rehabilitation team can help.
Alzheimer’s disease and dementia
Dementia
involves difficulty with at least two brain functions, such as memory
loss and impaired language. Our
goal is to give you or your loved one an accurate diagnosis and
provide the care and support you
and your family need to cope with this life-changing illness.
Concussions and brain trauma
A
blow to your head can cause a concussion, which often results in
headache,
confusion, dizziness or other symptoms, which might show up right
away or days or even weeks later. If the symptoms are pronounced you
may want to visit our emergency
department
or a Novant
Health physician.
For
athletes, we recommend baseline
testing
so that if you ever have a concussion, we can more accurately assess
any damage.
Headaches and migraines
At Brunswick Medical Center, we can diagnose and care for
headaches, including migraines, cluster headaches and tension
headaches.
Sleep health
If you are having trouble falling or staying asleep, it could be a sign of an underlying health condition. Through a study at our sleep center, you can find out what is keeping you from resting and how you can address it. Located on the second floor of our medical center, our sleep health team specializes in diagnosing conditions such as narcolepsy, insomnia and sleep apnea. Ask your primary care provider for a referral if you are interested in participating in one of our sleep studies.
Diagnostic testing
Our
physicians, nurses and technicians specialize in advanced imaging and
treatment options for neurological disorders and injuries. A
physician referral is needed for most tests.
Quality outcomes
If you’re faced with a stroke or other neurological emergency or
