Neurosciences telemedicine network
If you’re a patient at one of several nearby community hospitals, the providers there can easily consult with Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center’s neurologists through videoconferencing. This service is
available in an emergency or for ongoing treatment of a stroke, brain
aneurysm, concussion, brain tumor and epilepsy.
Brain aneurysm
A
brain aneurysm occurs when part of an artery wall weakens and swells.
Symptoms include:
- Sudden, severe headache that is different from past headaches
- Severe neck pain
- Blurred vision
- Confusion or loss of consciousness
- Sensitivity to light
- Nausea with vomiting
- Seizures
If you or a loved one experiences these symptoms, call 911 immediately. If an aneurysm ruptures, it is a life-threatening medical emergency.
Brain tumor
If
you have a brain tumor or neurological complications as a result of
other forms of cancer, you can rely on the team at Forsyth Medical Center to provide leading-edge, compassionate care.
Headache and migraine
If
you have chronic headaches, such as migraines, cluster headaches or
tension headaches, a
Novant Health physician who specializes in these conditions can help. If you’re 50 or older and get a new kind of headache you’ve never

Epilepsy and seizures
We are a comprehensive epilepsy center with a level III designation from the National Association of Epilepsy Centers (NAEC). Our board-certified and fellowship-trained specialists provide comprehensive evaluations for diagnoses and various epilepsy surgeries, including resective surgery or implantation of the vegas nerve stimulator. Other services include medical care for patients with refractory epilepsy through neurodiagnostic evaluations, neurophysiological and medication treatments.

Our
goal at Forsyth Medical Center is to give you an accurate diagnosis and offer
personalized support to help you and your family cope with your
condition and maximize your quality of life. Ask your physician for a
referral to a Novant Health specialty clinic.
Diagnostic testing
Our
physicians, nurses and technicians specialize in advanced imaging and
diagnostic tests for neurological disorders and injuries. You’ll
need a physician referral for most tests.
