I chose medicine because I enjoy interacting with and helping people. I specialized in orthopedics because of my interest in athletics was a natural fit for musculoskeletal injuries and conditions.

After completing medical school at the University of Iowa, I went on to a sports medicine fellowship at the Hughston Clinic in Columbus, Georgia. I practiced orthopedics in Iowa for three years before returning to Charleston in 2005.
