GREENSBORO, N.C. — Leaders from Novant Health and Mount Zion Development Company joined members of the Mount Zion Baptist Church community today to celebrate the groundbreaking of Novant Health Zion Hills Medical Plaza, a future multispecialty medical office building next to the church on Alamance Church Road.
The project marks the next phase of a partnership announced in 2025 between Novant Health and Mount Zion Baptist Church to bring healthcare services closer to residents of southeast Greensboro.
“At Novant Health, we believe every person deserves access to world-class medical care,” said Dr. Chan Badger, senior vice president and president of Novant Health primary care services. “Mount Zion Baptist Church is an invaluable partner that shares our commitment to improving health and expanding access to care in the local community. Together, we're transforming how healthcare is delivered and creating new opportunities for patients and families to receive the services they need.”
Novant Health Zion Hills Medical Plaza is expected to open in spring 2028 and expand access to primary and specialty care services, including women’s health, pediatric care, diabetes management, heart and vascular care, advanced imaging and support from an on-site community health worker who can help address barriers to care.
While construction is underway, Novant Health is already bringing care directly to the church campus through innovative solutions, including:
- A Novant Health mobile care cruiser that offers primary care and diabetes management services on Tuesdays between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. To schedule an appointment, call 336-718-4387.
- A Novant Health virtual care kiosk located inside the church that connects patients virtually with a Novant Health clinician, helping reduce transportation barriers and improve access to care.
“We are focused on strengthening the spiritual and physical health of our community,” said Bishop Bryan J. Pierce Sr., senior pastor of Mount Zion Baptist Church. “Together with Novant Health, we are helping connect church members and local residents with the care, resources and support they need to live healthier lives.”
In addition to expanding healthcare access, the future medical plaza is expected to create more than 60 full-time jobs and contribute to economic growth in Guilford County.
Novant Health, headquartered in the Triad, serves patients across Guilford County through more than 25 outpatient clinic locations offering services that include primary care, cancer care, cardiology, endocrinology, neurosciences, orthopedics, surgical services and more.
