Shoulder surgery
Shoulder pain can make everyday movements, like reaching, lifting or sleeping comfortably, feel out of reach. At Novant Health, our shoulder specialists provide advanced shoulder surgery and nonsurgical treatment options tailored to your injury, activity level and recovery goals. From your first appointment through rehabilitation, our team is here to help you regain strength and get back to the activities you enjoy.
What is shoulder surgery?
Shoulder surgery treats injuries and conditions affecting the bones, tendons, ligaments and cartilage that make up the shoulder joint. Because the shoulder has such a wide range of motion, it's especially vulnerable to instability, wear and tear, and injury.
Shoulder surgery may be recommended when nonsurgical treatments, such as physical therapy, medication or injections, haven't relieved your pain or restored function. Depending on your diagnosis, your care team may suggest minimally invasive shoulder surgery, such as arthroscopy, or a more involved open procedure. The right approach depends on your specific condition, activity level and overall health.
