What is trigger finger treatment?

Trigger finger, also called stenosing tenosynovitis, happens when a tendon in your finger or thumb has trouble sliding smoothly through the tunnel of tissue that surrounds it. This can cause your finger to catch, click or lock in a bent position before it pops straight again.

Trigger finger treatment aims to reduce swelling around the tendon and restore smooth, pain-free movement. Your physician may recommend treatment when symptoms interfere with daily activities like gripping, typing or buttoning clothes, or when a finger becomes stuck and difficult to straighten.
