Fluoroscopic Hand and Wrist Imaging
Fluoroscopic hand and wrist imaging allows our team members to see the structures and movements of your hand and wrist in real-time. It involves the use of a fluoroscope, a specialized imaging machine that captures continuous images, like an X-ray “movie” of your hand and wrist.
During a real-time fluoroscopic hand and wrist imaging procedure, your hand or wrist is positioned under the fluoroscope to produce live images of the hand or wrist. These images are displayed on a monitor so your provider can observe the movement of bones, joints and soft tissues in real-time.
What hand and wrist conditions can benefit from this type of imaging?
- Acute injuries such as fractures and dislocations
- Chronic conditions such as arthritis and tendonitis
- Degenerative changes affecting the hand and wrist joints
- Evaluation of post-operative outcomes
