Serving the community since 1954
1954: Community Hospital of Stokes opens in Danbury as a 30-bed acute care hospital, bringing local healthcare services to the residents of Stokes County.1970s: The hospital becomes the primary medical control provider for Stokes County Emergency Medical Services, establishing a partnership that continues today.
1977: The facility undergoes a major renovation and expansion to meet the growing healthcare needs of the community.
1988: The Medical Center of King opens, expanding access to outpatient services throughout the region.
1992: Stokes County begins supporting hospital operations through a series of lease agreements, helping ensure continued access to local healthcare services.
2000s: Swing Care and Respite Care programs expand services for patients recovering after hospitalization and for caregivers seeking temporary support for loved ones.
Today: As a Critical Access Hospital, Community Hospital of Stokes provides acute care, skilled nursing, rehabilitation and outpatient services, continuing its commitment to delivering quality healthcare close to home.
