Our history

St. Jude Affiliate Clinic at Novant Health Hemby Children's Hospital got its start as Blume Pediatric Hematology & Oncology in 2000 with a generous gift from Don and Betty Blume and family. The Blume family gift honored Don and Betty's young daughter, Sherri, who died of cancer in 1967. The Blume legacy has touched thousands of children and their families who have turned to Novant Health for medical excellence and compassionate care.

Children's Oncology Group

COG has more than 100 active clinical trials at any time. Our COG membership means all eligible patients are treated according to the same guidelines as other top pediatric oncology institutions across the country.
