The gift of time makes a huge difference in the life of another

If you’re interested in performing valuable community service in a healthcare environment, please consider joining the Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center volunteers who play a vital role helping others.

Our volunteers provide community service appreciated by everyone they encounter as well as the opportunity to enjoy camaraderie with others who share a similar interest in serving people in a healthcare setting.

We are currently seeking volunteers who have excellent customer service skills and are able to commit to at least 100 hours of volunteer service per year, most volunteers provide a minimum of one 4-hour shift per week. Volunteer opportunities encompass most hospital departments, some of the local Novant Health physician practices, the Shallotte Physical Therapy office, and our new Endoscopy Center. In addition to providing a variety of hospital support services, volunteers are very active in fundraising events which help support many hospital departments with patient needs including our Compassionate Clothes Closet.

As a new volunteer you will receive training before you begin to volunteer so no experience is required.

Adult volunteer program

To qualify for the adult program, you must be 18 years of age or older. To get started, please complete the online adult volunteer application. You will be contacted to attend one of our monthly new volunteer information sessions, participate in an interview with the volunteer services team, complete a health screening and consent to a criminal background check.

Junior volunteer program

Our Junior Volunteer Program is offered to mature, dependable teens between the ages of 16-18. Our teen volunteers have the opportunity to learn about healthcare by assisting staff, visitors and patients providing non-medical tasks. Juniors must be able to follow directions, accept supervision and work independently. Please see the junior volunteer application cover letter for more details.

Our junior program offers two volunteer opportunities for teens:

School year session: September – April, this requires a minimum commitment of one 4 hour shift per week or weekends.

Summer session: June – August. This is an 8 week commitment of at least one 4 hour shift per week or weekends.

To apply to participate in our junior volunteer program, complete the online Junior Volunteer Application. Applications for the school year are accepted August 1 through September 15 and the summer program April 1- May 30, or until the available volunteer positions are filled.
