From our program director, Dr. Steve Schultz: “I chose to come here because this program reflects the values I care about: strong clinical training, service to the underserved, and a deep sense of community. From the moment I arrived, I was struck by the robust clinical experiences, especially the strong OB training and the essential role family medicine plays in the hospital. I was also drawn to the incredible faculty —skilled, collaborative, and grounded — and the vibrant, coastal city of Wilmington. Throughout my career, I’ve focused on caring for the underserved, both domestically through the National Health Service Corps and a Health Care for the Homeless program, and globally through sustainable health work in Honduras and elsewhere. I believe in listening, supporting, and advocating — both for our patients and for each other. I’m here to help you grow into the kind of physician our communities need.”
