Osteopathic Recognition Program

At Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center, our ACGME-accredited osteopathic recognition program strengthens training in whole-person care through hands-on learning and dedicated mentorship. Open to both DO and MD residents, the program integrates osteopathic principles into everyday clinical practice.

Program highlights:
  • ACGME osteopathic recognition
  • OMT clinics and focused didactics
  • Strong faculty support in inpatient and outpatient settings
  • Hands-on training through workshops and OSCEs
  • Commitment to osteopathic-informed care in our community
Program overview

DO residents are automatically enrolled and receive training in osteopathic philosophy, structural exams, and OMT techniques as part of their residency.

MD residents may pursue osteopathic recognition through prior training or participation in OMT-focused experiences, including clinics, coursework, and faculty mentorship.

Integrated training

Osteopathic education is built into residency through regular clinics, didactics, and hands-on experiences, supported by faculty committed to your growth.
