At Novant Health Thomasville Medical Center, our volunteers play many roles in which they help to present the friendly, caring face we’re known for.

We hope you’ll consider joining this special group. Our volunteers provide an invaluable community service that is appreciated by everyone they encounter. They also enjoy camaraderie with others who share the same interest in serving people in a healthcare setting.

Volunteer opportunities include:

  • Visiting patients to ask about non-medical needs and offer emotional support.
  • Serving as reception and information clerks.
  • Giving patients and visitors directions and helping them find their way.
  • Transporting patients throughout the hospital.

No experience is necessary. As a new volunteer, you’ll attend an orientation class and receive training before you begin to volunteer. First we’ll ask you to fill out an application, then have an interview with the volunteer services staff and finally we'll ask that you complete a health screening.

Adult Volunteer Program

To qualify for the adult program you must be 18 years of age or older. To get started, please complete the Adult Volunteer Application. As a new volunteer, you’ll attend an orientation class, complete a health screening and background check and receive training before you begin.

Junior and college volunteers

For teens age 14 to age 18, our junior volunteer program offers an opportunity to serve after school and during the summer. Our teen volunteers are trained and supervised by the community relations manager and they perform some of the same duties as adult volunteers. Students must commit to serving one shift of three to four hours per week for an entire school year or summer program. No weekend shifts are available.

College students can also donate their time during the school year and summer by serving in departments where they can learn about healthcare.

For more information about the junior or college volunteer program at Thomasville Medical Center, please call 336-476-2881.

We look forward to hearing from you!
