Augustus Parker IV, MD

Dr Parker has been our primary care physician for about 10 years now. He is professional, capable, empathetic, and concerned for my well being and that if my wife and (our now adult son who has moved away). He reads up on my recent history and listens to me. Our co versations are always reassuring and effective at determining the medical reasons behind my concerns, and arriving at a treatment plan. I NEVER feel rushed, and always feel,confident that Dr Parker has my best interests in mind.

I recommend Dr. Parker to friends looking for a PCP. All my questions are answered and I never leave wondering about something. Dr Parker and team are outstanding with respect to the Portal. They always provide a perception of urgency and concern with any post appointment or test results question I have.

Physicians need more training on serving veterans with disabilities. Dr. Parker seemed very inexperienced and seemed to not understand his role in the process. I’m also concerned that he seemed to not stand behind his diagnosis of my condition once I informed him that I may receive disability benefits. Dr. Parker diagnosed me with Chronic Bronchitis and he has filled a prescription to support his diagnosis for over a year. When I mentioned that I may receive disability benefits, he thought it would be a good idea to waffle on his diagnosis and refer me to a specialist. What??? You (Dr. Parker) told me I had Chronic Bronchitis and you’ve filled a prescription to treat the symptoms for over a year. Why the change? If Novant received compensation for the prescriptions that have been filled on the basis of me having Chronic Bronchitis, this seems wrong. Now you (Dr. Parker) want me to spend more money to go to a specialist. This just seems wrong and I don’t understand. This was a terrible experience and does not feel right at all.

Everyone there are very professional and knowledgeable as well as friendly. I’m very happy with that practice.

This is one of the most professional medical offices I have ever experienced. From the person who handled setting up my appointment, to the assistant who checked my in in the exam room, to the X-ray tech who shot my X-rays, to Dr Parker, everyone behaved in a personable and professional manner to me.
