This was my first appointment and we had a lot to unpack and cover in a short time. I had no expectations of getting through every item thoroughly simply due to time constraints. However, the provider displayed much patience with my multiple questions and also gave me the opportunity to share about my medical issues/concerns that most other doctors shy away from discussing. I was a little hesitant to share fully at first because of past experiences but after this first appointment with Melissa, I feel much more comfortable discussing a very sensitive subject (aka early onset peri-menopause) I am hopeful my next appointment will be even better and I truly hope it continues to be a positive experience and not just a one-time ploy to get a new patient to come back!

Overall, my experience has been mixed. I appreciate the care I've received, but there were a couple of situations that left me feeling confused and concerned.During my pregnancy, I was given a referral for a mammogram. At first, I assumed it was meant to be a sonogram or another pregnancy-safe imaging test, but the referral clearly stated "mammogram." This caused unnecessary stress because I wasn't sure whether it was appropriate or safe during pregnancy. I would have appreciated clearer communication and an explanation of why it was being ordered.I also passed my one-hour glucose screening, but I was told I would need to repeat the test around 28-30 weeks. This was confusing since I had already passed, and I wasn't given much explanation as to why another test would be necessary.As a first-time mom, I rely on my healthcare team to explain recommendations and answer questions thoroughly. Better communication and more detailed explanations would go a long way in helping patients feel informed and confident in their care.

This was the best medical appointment I've had in years. It wasn't rushed, Melissa listened to me and addressed the concerns I shared in my pre-visit registration, and she talked me through options to help us arrive at a treatment plan together.
