WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Five Novant Health ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) have been named a “Best Ambulatory Surgery Center,” by Money, formerly known as Money Magazine. Money partnered with The Leapfrog Group, a nonprofit organization that collects and publishes data on patient safety and quality. More than half of surgeries in the United States are now outpatient procedures typically performed in ASCs or hospital outpatient departments.
“Novant Health’s recognition by Money and The Leapfrog Group demonstrates our steadfast focus on patient safety and quality across our ambulatory surgery centers,” said Leslie Barrett, system administrative executive, surgical and anesthesia services, Novant Health.
Nationwide, 28 ASCs qualified for the list, meeting Leapfrog’s rigorous methodology that assesses surgery center readiness across 10 dimensions. Key metrics included hand hygiene, never events and patient experience. The recognized Novant Health surgery centers are:
- Novant Health Ballantyne Outpatient Surgery Center
- Novant Health Brunswick Endoscopy Center
- Novant Health Clemmons Outpatient Surgery Center
- Novant Health Huntersville Outpatient Surgery Center
- Novant Health Kernersville Outpatient Surgery Center
“As the only ambulatory surgery centers on the list from North Carolina, this is truly an honor to be recognized among this select group,” said Andrea Smith-Jones, vice president of ambulatory surgical services, Novant Health. “I am proud of our teams’ commitment to safe, high quality and personalized patient care.”
