PGY2 Critical Care Pharmacy Residency (New Hanover)

Program description

The PGY2 critical care pharmacy residency at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center is an ASHP- accredited program that provides the resident with advanced training in a variety of critical care settings. The program is designed to instill and develop the skills necessary to practice independently as a member of the interdisciplinary critical care team.

Medication use evaluation (MUE)
UNC student seminar

Co-precept PGY1 residents and pharmacy students
Affiliations with High Point University, Campbell University and UNC Chapel Hill
Teaching and learning certificate program
Service leadership
Staffing / critical care practice (resident works every 4th weekend)
Service on department committees
Serve as resident-in-charge


Program completion

Upon completion, residents will have gained the following skills:
  • Advanced knowledge in pharmacotherapy in critical care
  • Ability to function independently and efficiently on a health care team
  • Confident leadership and strengthened communication skills
  • Enhanced teaching, presentation, and research skills
