Clinical training environment

Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center is a Level II Trauma Center serving a seven-county region in southeastern North Carolina.  As one of the largest hospitals in the region, we offer a rich, comprehensive clinical experience across both inpatient and outpatient settings, with extensive exposure to a wide range of subspecialties.

Residents benefit from robust exposure to a wide range of subspecialties, gaining the skills and confidence needed to excel in any career path, whether in hospital medicine, primary care, or subspecialty practice. The strength and quality of our training environment are reflected in the number of graduates who choose to remain within the Novant Health system as practicing physicians.

Our academic calendar is structured into 26 two-week blocks. This scheduling model promotes variety in clinical exposure while supporting resident wellness through more frequent transitions and balanced, manageable rotations.
