We offer hyperbaric oxygen therapy to adult patients in cases where low oxygen levels in wounded tissue are preventing healing. Conditions including diabetes, peripheral arterial disease and radiation treatment can damage small blood vessels which then carry less oxygen to tissues. Also called hyperbaric medicine, hyperbaric oxygen therapy exposes the body to 100 percent pure oxygen using a hyperbaric chamber. It is often used to treat:
- Diabetic foot ulcers
- Diabetic leg ulcers
- Chronic refractory osteomyelitis (a recurrent bone infection)
- Delayed radiation soft tissue injury
- Osteoradionecrosis (bone death due to radiation)
- Compromised skin grafts/flaps
If you have a wound related to vascular disease, Charcot foot or diabetic foot problems, we work closely with providers at the limb preservation center at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center. We will explore every option possible to treat and save your limb.
