Novant Health Women’s Specialty Care offers comprehensive women’s health care to women of all ages. From adolescence through menopause, our providers offer comprehensive gynecologic care. We aim to keep you as healthy as possible, and to help you achieve your family planning goals.
Services we offer include:
- Annual gynecologic exams
- Breast health care, including annual breast exams
- Care for gynecologic concerns including urinary tract infections (UTIs) and abnormal menstrual bleeding (heavy or frequent periods, absent periods, bleeding after menopause)
- Care for pelvic pain (pain during intercourse or menstrual pain)
- Infertility care
- Care for polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS)
- Birth control prescriptions, and same-day placement of intrauterine devices (IUDs) and implants
- Treatment for vaginal infections and sexually transmitted infections (STIs)
- Screenings for cervical, uterine and ovarian cancers)
- Care for vulvar skin problems
- Care for pelvic organ prolapse
- Care to address urinary or fecal incontinence
When indicated, our providers offer these surgical procedures in-office:
- Hysteroscopy (a minimally invasive procedure to examine the uterus)
- Dilation and curettage (D&C; to remove tissue from the uterus)
- Endometrial ablation (to address menstrual concerns)
- Colposcopy (a minimally invasive procedure to examine the cervix)
- LEEP (a minimally invasive procedure to remove abnormal uterine cells)
- Biopsies of the reproductive tract
- Complicated IUD removal
Our providers complete these procedures at surgical centers or in a hospital:
- Hysterectomy (vaginal or laparoscopic) for all benign (noncancerous) indications
- Bilateral salpingectomy for permanent sterilization
- Management of ovarian cysts
- Management of fibroids
- Evaluation of pelvic pain/endometriosis
- Endometrial ablation (to address menstrual concerns)
- Hysterosalpingogram (to examine the fallopian tubes)
Additional services
Breast cancer care
Should you or a loved one be at a heightened risk for breast cancer or have breast concerns, you can get much of the care you need from providers you already know and trust. We offer:
- Evaluation and management of patients at elevated breast cancer risk, including patients with a family history of breast cancer, dense breast tissue, or high-risk lesions such as atypical ductal or lobular hyperplasia or lobular carcinoma in situ
- Genetic testing
- Ultrasound-guided core biopsies
- Care for benign breast concerns including breast lumps, nipple discharge, pain or infections
If you are diagnosed with breast cancer, we will continue to care for you. We provide breast cancer care including:
- Breast-conserving surgery (lumpectomy) including hidden scar approaches
- Mastectomy including aesthetic flat closure, nipple-sparing and skin-sparing approaches
- Sentinel node biopsy
- Close coordination with plastic surgery providers for reconstruction procedures
