General surgery procedures we offer include:
- Appendectomy (a surgery to remove the appendix, a tube that branches off the large intestine)
- Cholecystectomy (removal of the gallbladder, a structure located under the liver that stores and concentrates bile)
- Excisions of lesions and masses (from the skin or within the body)
- Gastric procedures (to address severe acid reflux, stomach cancer or peptic ulcers; can include gastric resection to remove all or part of the stomach)
- Hernia treatment (to repair an umbilical, inguinal, femoral, hiatal or spigelian hernia; a weakness in a muscle wall that allows a section of intestine or other organ to bulge out)
- Splenectomy (removal of all or part of the spleen, an organ that filters blood)
- Tube or catheter placement (to give providers access to veins and organs without unnecessary needle stick or repetitive invasive procedures; devices placed including portacaths, Tenckhoff caths, Port-A-Grams, JJ tubes, feeding tubes and chest tubes)
- Ulcer repair (to address sores found in the stomach or upper small intestine)
- Wound care (for wounds that can be helped by vacuum dressings, or to investigate why a wound is not healing)
Colorectal surgeries and procedures we offer include:
- Colonoscopy procedures (to examine the large intestine and access it with minimally invasive surgical instruments)
- Rectal tumor procedures (to remove tumors in the rectum)
- Hemorrhoid surgery (to remove swollen veins around the anus)
- Anal fissure and fistula surgery (to repair tears in the anus or infected cavities near the anus)
- Colon and small bowel resection (to remove cancerous or inflamed sections of the colon and small bowel)
- Rectal prolapse surgery (a procedure to address the lower end of the rectum protruding out of the anus)
Surgery is often recommended as a first step in a cancer treatment plan. Our providers regularly complete:
- Breast cancer surgeries (including breast biopsies, nipple exploration and lumpectomies to diagnose cancer; and Mammosite procedures, and partial and complete mastectomies to treat cancer)
- Colorectal cancer surgery (the removal of cancerous cells along with adjacent sections of the colon or rectum)
- Lymph node excision (the surgical removal of a lymph node to determine the presence of cancerous cells or remove cancerous cells)
- Pancreatic cancer surgery (the removal of all or part of the pancreas, as well as associated surgeries to bypass bile ducts or reroute the stomach)
- Sarcoma surgery (to address cancers involving bone, cartilage, fat, muscle or vascular tissue)
- Skin cancer surgery (to diagnose or remove cancerous cells, as well as scar revision surgery to make the evidence of skin cancer less noticeable)
- Splenectomy (if the spleen is affected by a cancer)
- Stomach cancer surgery (to diagnose or remove cancerous cells; could involve the removal of all or part of the stomach, along with other infected organs and lymph nodes nearby)
- Thyroid cancer surgery (to all or part of the thyroid gland in the neck)
