Our services
Novant Health Rheumatology – Doctors Circle offers care for patients suffering from common and complex rheumatic conditions, or those affecting your autoimmune system. We understand how inflammation in joints, bones, muscles and internal organs can cause pain and restrict activity. Our goal is to help alleviate your discomfort so you can remain as active as possible.
Conditions our providers regularly treat include:
- Arthritis, including rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis and reactive arthritis (painful swelling of joints that can lead to bone erosion and joint deformities)
- Gout (a condition where uric acid collects in joints causing pain and swelling)
- Ankylosing spondylitis (a chronic inflammatory disease of the bones)
- Lupus (a condition in which the body’s immune system attacks healthy tissue)
- Lyme disease (a disease carried by ticks that can cause joint pain, neck stiffness, headaches and heart palpitations, and can lead to arthritis)
- Polymyositis (an inflammation of the muscles)
- Vasculitis (a disorder in which blood vessels become inflamed)
Treatment options can include:
- Anti-TNF medications (drugs used to help stop inflammation)
- NSAIDS (prescription strength versions of over-the-counter anti-inflammatories that can reduce joint inflammation)
- Biologics (drugs that alter the function of the immune system)
- Corticosteroids (anti-inflammatory drugs often used to treat arthritis)
- Bracing (immobilizing an inflamed joint to reduce pain)
- Surgery (including knee, hip and shoulder replacement procedures)
