Our services
When your child has a problem that prevents or could prevent normal breathing, everyday activities can seem scary. At Novant Health Pediatric Pulmonology – Matthews, we partner with you and your child to address those concerns. We work to accurately diagnose your child’s respiratory problem, and then create a management or treatment plan that is right for your family.
We also can teach you how to best prevent respiratory problems and how to handle a respiratory emergency, should one occur. Our goal is to stabilize your child’s breathing so he or she can be as active and healthy as possible.
Conditions we manage include:
- Apnea of prematurity (breathing problems in premature infants)
- Asthma
- Aerodigestive problems (reflux, dysphagia and aspiration)
- Bronchiectasis (permanent enlargement in parts of the airways)
- Bronchiolitis (inflammation in the airways)
- Bronchiopulmonary dysplasia (chronic lung disease associated with premature birth)
- Chronic cough
- Croup (upper airway infection that causes a barking cough)
- Cystic fibrosis (a genetic disorder that affects the lungs)
- Interstitial lung disease (a condition that leads to scarring of the lung tissue)
- Laryngomalacia (condition where part of the airway collapses inward during breathing, mostly among infants)
- Pneumonia (inflammation of the lungs)
