assistance for the uninsured
As
a not-for-profit organization, Novant Health is committed to
providing outstanding healthcare to all members of our community,
regardless of their ability to pay. We provide free care to uninsured
patients with incomes of up to 300 percent of the federal poverty
level, with 100 percent write-off.
Paying your bill
Managing your bills after receiving
care can be overwhelming. It isn’t uncommon to have several
different people participate in your care. Afterwards, you may
receive separate invoices from each of those doctors.
We understand the added stress this can
place on you and are here to help. We offer patient financial
services to help you understand your bill and make the payment
process easier.
For more information about paying your
bill, call our billing center Monday through Friday between 8 a.m.
and 6 p.m. at toll-free 1-844-266-8268. You can also make payments online.
Health insurance plans
In most cases, we will bill your
primary health insurance company directly. If we haven't heard from
your insurer after 30-45 days, we may ask for your help in contacting
them. Amounts that are denied, rejected or unpaid may become your
responsibility, depending on your plan type and benefits.

insurance card checklist
Beyond
your name and policy number, your insurance card contains important
information. We have compiled a checklist of questions to review
before arriving that will help simplify the admission process. Find
out what you should know about your health insurance before you
arrive.
Medicare
In you have Medicare, we will bill it
first and then bill unpaid amounts to any supplemental insurance
polices you may have. All unpaid balances may become your
responsibility depending on your plan type and benefits.
Self-pay options and financial
assistance for the uninsured
For your convenience, we accept most
forms of payment including cash, checks, Visa, MasterCard, American
Express and Discover credit cards. Any patient is eligible for an
individual payment plan based on the amount due and the patient's
financial status, with terms extending up to five years. If you are
uninsured with an income over 300-percent of the federal poverty
level, you are eligible for a self-pay discount. Any patient with a
balance over 20-percent of their gross annual income is eligible for
a catastrophic settlement.
