Care for premature and
special needs newborns
If your baby is born prematurely or with an illness or condition that requires special care, rest assured that your baby will be in excellent hands. We have teams of board-certified neonatologists, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, respiratory therapists, social workers, pharmacists, nutritionists / lactation consultants, and child-life specialists on staff in our Novant Health neonatal intensive care units (NICU), as well as in our special care nurseries, where your baby will be closely monitored and treated with the utmost care.
Babies who need a level IV NICU may be transferred by our pediatric critical care transport to the NICU at our Charlotte or Winston-Salem medical centers.
For additional information, please call:
While your baby is being treated in the NICU, we encourage you to become a part of the Novant Health team. You are not alone in your baby’s healing process. We want you to visit and spend personal time with your baby. If you are away and need peace of mind, you can call 24 hours a day. When it’s time for your baby to leave our facilities, Novant Health has dedicated discharge teams and services in place designed to help ease the transition from hospital to home.
