With proper care,
you can prevent strokes
and the disabilities they cause

Anyone can have a stroke, even a child or infant. Someone you care about could be at risk if they are not receiving regular medical care or have known risk factors. Up to 80 percent of strokes could have been prevented, so make time today to bring in a family member or friend for a checkup if you have a concern about stroke risk.

Stroke is an emergency and should be treated as such. The greatest chance for recovery from stroke occurs when treatment is started immediately in a hospital emergency room.

We are prepared to help when you see stroke symptoms

The basic and advanced services you need for stroke care are available at Novant Health. We've made stroke care a priority. Our services include:

  • Advanced Comprehensive and Certified Primary Stroke Centers– Novant Health’s hospitals are nationally recognized by The Joint Commission for advanced stroke care. The Joint Commission accredits and certifies nearly 21,000 health care organizations and programs in the United States.
  • World-class technology– Our physicians and nurses on our care teams have special training and expertise for putting advanced technologies to work to treat and manage neurologic emergencies such as stroke.
  • Specially trained physicians– Our stroke centers are staffed by emergency medicine physicians, neurologists, neurosurgeons, neurohospitalists and nurses. These experts provide the highest level of care available in the region at our comprehensive stroke centers.
  • Care when you need it– We are here 24 hours a day to care for you. This means our stroke-care team can begin your stroke treatment more quickly, improving your chance for a healthy recovery. Once you leave the hospital, you can continue to improve your strength and mobility through rehabilitation services. Physical therapists and others who specialize in recovery can teach ways to get back to your routine quickly.

  • Personal connections– When you come into our facilities, you’re treated as a valued guest by every member of your care team. A stroke navigator will help coordinate the services you need and answer questions throughout treatment. You also will have a face-to-face relationship with our board-certified physicians and other skilled clinicians. Their goal is to work with you one-on-one to deliver a level of care that is convenient and tailored for you.

If you or someone you care about experiences symptoms of a stroke, call 911 immediately. If you or a loved one is a stroke survivor, schedule an appointment with one of our experts. We want to help you get better and stay healthy.
