Lifestyle changes to turn your diagnosis around
Prediabetes occurs when your blood sugar levels, or blood glucose, are out of normal range but not high enough to be diagnosed as diabetes. Having too much sugar in your blood puts you at increased risk for developing type 2 diabetes and heart disease.
At Novant Health, we understand that prediabetes is your body’s way of letting you know there is a problem and we are here to equip you with the information you need to turn your health around.
If you have recently been diagnosed with prediabetes, now is the time to meet with your Novant Health provider to monitor your blood sugar levels as you start making lifestyle changes such as:
- Making sure your weight is within the normal range and losing weight if you are overweight.
- Getting at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise daily.
- Eating healthier and limiting your sugar and starchy carb intake.
