Get training for your career as a physician assistant

The Novant Health Physician Assistant Psychiatric Fellowship is a 12-month program at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Our program offers valuable practical experience for physician assistants pursuing careers in psychiatry. This training opportunity also helps meet the community’s need for qualified psychiatric providers.

By participating in the program, fellows get first-hand experience working with diverse patient populations in acute and outpatient care. Supervised learning such as this allows fellows to participate in treating an array of complex disorders and diseases. Faculty members also offer guidance and instruction in working with patients seeking treatment for addiction. Fellows can become more confident clinical practitioners who are better able to deliver superior patient care.

Network with peers in weekly didactic seminars

In addition to training in clinical settings, fellows come together each week for a didactic seminar. In these sessions, fellows explore topics related to mental illness and behavioral health disorders.

Upon completing the program, fellows will have an expanded network of physician assistant peers, greater understanding of protocols of major healthcare organizations, competitive practical skills and insight learned from industry leaders.
