Team Members

Creating an inclusive culture for all is a team effort.

Administrative team members working in a clinicWe value team members from all backgrounds. We recognize that every person is different, and this enables us to better understand each other and our patients. That’s why we aim to fully embed diversity, inclusion, and equity into how we do our work every day. This includes:

  • Facilitating educational opportunities for our team year-round, such as cultural competency programs for physicians, advanced practice providers and team members.
  • Providing tools and training to help increase understanding and appreciation of different cultural perspectives.
  • Encouraging all team members to join a business resource group to connect with others and work together to support each other, our business and a culture of inclusivity.
  • Offering transcultural health managers as a resource for our teams to bridge gaps in providing care across various dimensions of diversity.
  • Celebrating our unique backgrounds and perspectives in open forums for all team members.

Total Rewards Program

Having a benefits program that is flexible to meet the different needs, concerns and challenges of our diverse workforce is a priority for us. Through work-life benefits, affordable voluntary benefits and services, we are striving to meet the changing needs and lifestyle of an increasingly diverse workforce. Our team members are critical to delivering on the mission to deliver remarkable care. We invest in their professional development in many ways, such as mentoring programs, tuition reimbursement and corporate education class offerings, while also keeping an eye on work-life balance and overall well-being.

We have listed several of our benefits below. For a full understanding of how we work to meet our team members’ needs, please visit our benefits page.

Upward Mobility RN Educational Assistance Program

One way we support team member career advancement is through the Upward Mobility RN Educational Assistance Program. Through the program, Novant Health provides up-front coverage of tuition and fees for the accredited nursing program, the flexibility of working a reduced schedule without reduction in pay and benefits, and access to mentorship and career coaching. The program is funded by our Novant Health regional foundations.

Military leave policy

In support of team members who sacrifice so much to serve our nation in the U.S. military forces or state National Guard, Novant Health has enhanced military leave benefits. Military leaves of absence at Novant Health are administered under the provisions of the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act of 1994 (USERRA). Full-time and part-time members, when entering the uniformed services and returning within the time and conditions prescribed by law, will be reinstated to their former position or a comparable one.

Team members who are members of a reserve military organization or the National Guard may participate in weekend or annual training as required. Novant Health will attempt to coordinate schedules, to the extent possible, to allow employees to meet their reserve obligations.

Parental leave policy

Novant Health is committed to supporting employees as they welcome a new child through birth or adoption, which is why we offer paid parental leave to eligible team members. It’s part of our commitment to being an organization whose business is the care of all people, starting with our team members. Novant Health provides four weeks of paid parental leave at 100% of base pay to eligible team members, which can also be combined with short-term disability leave.

Total well-being

At Novant Health, our patients' well-being depends on your well-being. Simple solutions help lead to a healthier you by eating well, living well, saving well, sleeping well, breathing well and playing well. All team members are encouraged to participate in our well-being activities, and all benefits-eligible team members have the opportunity to earn incentives, even if not enrolled in a Novant Health medical plan.

Employee assistance program

Novant Health has partnered with LifeServices EAP to help our team members with personal or work-related challenges that may impact your health or general well-being. Team members have access to a wide range of services including mental-health counseling, life coaching, legal and financial consultation, work-life referrals, personal assistant referrals and medical advocacy.
