Under Armato’s leadership, Novant Health has implemented a disciplined growth strategy focused on expanding and strengthening access to care. The organization has broadened its reach across the Carolinas, including the addition of three hospitals on South Carolina’s coast, the development of another hospital in Greenville, and continued expansion of its care network across the Palmetto State. Novant Health has also strengthened access to care through its expansion in coastal and western North Carolina to meet the needs of some of the nation’s fastest-growing regions. A dedicated industry and community leader, Armato is a director on the board of Vizient, the largest healthcare performance improvement company in the U.S. He also serves on the boards of the Healthcare Institute and Longitude Health.
Armato was named one of Modern Healthcare’s 100 Most Influential People in Healthcare for 2025 and has also been recognized by Becker’s Healthcare as one of its Great Leaders in Healthcare and Most Influential CEOs. He was named the Most Admired CEO by both the Charlotte Business Journal and the Triad Business Journal. Author of “A Future with Hope: An Inspiring Guide to Overcoming Diabetes,” he was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award by the American Diabetes Association, Charlotte Chapter.
Armato holds a Master of Business Administration from Norwich University and a Bachelor of Science in business administration and accounting from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
