Educational rotation opportunities for students

Are you a motivated, hardworking and driven student interested in work-based learning opportunities in healthcare? Novant Health offers student educational rotations where you can gain experience by participating in hands-on opportunities through your school or through observation experiences in a Novant Health facility.

To participate, you must be at least 16 years old.

Requirements

It can take up to 30 days to complete all requirements.

School requirements (affiliation agreements)

In order to participate in educational opportunities, your school must have the following on file with Novant Health:

  • Letter of agreement
  • Certificate of insurance

Your school should be able to provide you with their list of affiliated organizations. The Novant Health Student Programs team works with your institution on all agreement-related documentation.

Keep affiliation agreements current

To keep the agreement current, your school must submit a new certificate of insurance every year.

Preceptors

If you are interested in having a preceptor, it is your (or your school's) responsibility to identify a qualified one. We encourage you to work through your school advisor/contact or directly with facility clinic administrators. Novant Health cannot be responsible for securing preceptors because each school/program has a different set of requirements for educational experiences.

Novant Health's Physician Finder tool may be helpful in identifying professionals in your desired location and specialty of interest.

Documentation

Novant Health Student Programs will provide you and your school guidance on what documentation you are required to submit for your specific experience.

Clinical/non-clinical (hands-on) experiences

Work with your school’s advisor/contact to comply with Novant Health processes for rotation requests and clearance requirements through myClinicalExchange. Your school must submit requests for rotations through myClinical Exchange (mCE) at least 30 days before your start date.

Clearance confirmation

Once Student Programs verifies that all student and institution requirements are complete, you will receive an email notification that you have been cleared for your rotation. Your preceptor and school contact will be included on all clearance correspondence.

Do not report to a rotation without having received this documented clearance.

Training

As a part of your onboarding process, you may be required to complete training applicable to your specific educational experience. You will receive information about your specific training requirements after receiving clearance confirmation.

myClinicalExchange

Submit clinical and non-clinical educational rotations via the myClinicalExchange platform. If your corporate ID is not entered into your myClinicalExchange account, this is because the ID process is still in process and is incomplete. If you do not use your ID for 90 days or more, it will be disactivated. Email Student Programs to learn how to reactivate your ID.

For questions about that portal, have your school coordinator contact Support@MyClinicalExchange.com.
