Whether you are experiencing an emergency, recovering from surgery or need care for a chronic or complex medical condition, Novant Health mobile integrated health is here for you. Our team of expert emergency medical services (EMS) providers and nurses begin treatment on-site and throughout your transport to a hospital or clinic.
All along the way, you'll be treated by highly skilled medical professionals, specially trained in emergency medicine. Our emergency care is coordinated throughout our system to ensure you get the right level of care when and where you need it, including your home.
Novant Health Emergency Medical Services
When getting care is time sensitive, Novant Health air and ground critical care transport fleets are equipped to care for you from the moment we arrive until you are safely at your care location. Using a fleet of helicopters and emergency vehicles equipped with state-of-the-art medical equipment, you’ll receive the best care possible during transport.
Charlotte & Winston-Salem areas: When you need a higher level of care, our critical care transport can safely and efficiently move you where you need to be. Staffed 24/7 by a team of registered nurses, our ambulance service is equipped with advanced technology, medication and resources to provide critical care during transport for adults, neonatal and pediatric patients.
Wilmington area: VitaLink provides mobile intensive care transport services for Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center. VitaLink is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to transport you or a loved one from referring facilities to a higher level of care. When needed, we also provide basic and intermediate life support transport to your home, doctor’s appointments and to skilled nursing facilities
Charlotte & Winston-Salem area: Novant Health Med Flight helicopters are equipped with the latest medical technology and safety features to offer both emergency and critical care. We cover roughly 170 miles in any direction, including the Charlotte and Winston-Salem areas, from our home base at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center in Salisbury.
Wilmington area: AirLink medical helicopters are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to transport critical and injured patients from other facilities or transfer patients from scene-to-hospital. AirLink helicopters are licensed to operate in North and South Carolina. Our AirLink partner, Apollo, provides aircrafts, pilots and service mechanics.
If you or a loved one ever experiences a medical emergency within New Hanover County, our emergency medical services (EMS) will be sent to provide pre-hospital care and, if needed, transport you to the appropriate emergency department.
Our emergency services include a bicycle response team providing quicker access to medics at crowded outdoor events; all-terrain vehicles used to transport patients within crowded event spaces or athletic fields; and special operations medical teams to assist with rescue efforts.
The Community Paramedicine program at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center is dedicated to keeping the Wilmington community healthy. This team helps you manage your medical needs at home following discharge from the hospital.
Our Community Paramedics complete an additional 300 hours of specialized training and work collaboratively with medical providers to provide services wherever needed within our communities
Bringing Peace of Mind for Your Event
When you are hosting a large community event, safety and security is a top priority. Our Novant Health New Hanover EMS teams are available to provide quick medical response should you have an emergent need. Experienced paramedics provide evaluation of patients, treatment and critical care transport to the Emergency Department.


Training & Education
As an approved continuing education provider through the North Carolina office of EMS, the Novant Health AirLink/VitaLink team offers helicopter operations training and continuing medical education courses for prehospital and hospital-based healthcare professionals.
