Understanding liver cancer

Liver cancer, often diagnosed as hepatobiliary, affects the cells of the liver. Other cancers often spread to the liver cells, but cancer that typically forms in the liver is called hepatocellular carcinoma.

Liver cancer symptoms aren't always apparent in the early stages. Common signs include abdominal pain, swelling, loss of appetite, fatigue, chalky stools and nausea. Not all causes of liver cancer are known. Your team may recommend X-rays, ultrasounds, CT scan imaging or surgical biopsies to accurately diagnose your liver cancer.
