I chose medicine because I enjoy solving complex problems while building lasting relationships with my patients. Rheumatology was a natural fit because many conditions require piecing together a patient's history, physical exam, laboratory findings and imaging to arrive at the correct diagnosis. Due to an assortment of health issues over the past 25 years, I have been treated by dozens of competent physicians. My visit with Dr. Patel on July 24 was one of the very best experiences I've ever had. He took the time to ask the necessary questions and to respond to my questions. One of his greatest services during the visit was to capture on his computer my entire health history including illnesses and various surgeries. My medical chart was not organized chronologically up to this point. Through Dr. Patel's efforts, there is now a complete outline of my medical history which will serve me and my future medical providers. Let me add that Dr. Patel's thorough explanation about my current condition helped me much better understand my current situation and how to respond moving forward.
