Family Medicine Residency

Welcome to the Family Medicine Residency Program in Wilmington, N.C. We are sponsored by Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center (NHRMC), an 855-bed hospital that serves as both the general hospital for the community and the referral center for southeastern North Carolina.

Our program consists of six physician faculty who practice full spectrum Family Medicine, as well as a Behavioral Medicine specialist, and a PharmD.

Novant Health NHRMC Family Medicine Residency Program Mission

Training Family Physicians to Lead their Communities to Outstanding Health.

Our commitment to Equitable Care

We serve a diverse patient population, and our residency program and clinic strive to provide equitable care for every patient who walks through our doors. We have created services and developed initiatives intended to benefit groups that have traditionally been marginalized. To learn more about opportunities for residents to participate in these activities, please refer to the faculty bios.

The program is accredited by the ACGME with Osteopathic Recognition status. We are community based program affiliated with the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Our faculty and residents originally hail from all over the United States, but just to warn you, over 50% of our graduates stay in our immediate area and 70% stay in the state of North Carolina. Once you get here, you may find it hard to leave!

Thank you for your interest in our program. Please let us know if we can help as you decide on this important step in your career.
