At Novant Health Thomasville Medical Center, our goal is to provide children with expert care so they can live a healthy and active lifestyle. That’s why we host the annual Young Lungs Without Limits Summer Day Camp for children age 7 to 12. Jessica Gardner, Registered Respiratory Therapist, says, "The American Lung Association reports that 6.2 million children under age 18 suffer from asthma. In addition, asthma accounted for an estimated 14 million lost school days in children and is the third leading cause of hospitalization among children under age 15. Our goal is to provide the children a camp that will be a time of recreation and education in hopes of reducing lost school days or hospital admissions for the attendees by helping them better manage their asthma."
