Pharmacy options

As a Novant Health team member, you have three options for getting prescriptions filled, depending on the type of medication you need and where you work.

Here are your options:

The drug formulary is a list of generic and brand name drugs that are preferred by your health plan. Click the drug formulary link below and search for the drug name. Find its classification (generic, preferred brand, non-preferred brand, or specialty). Then refer to the chart below to find your out-of-pocket co-pay at Novant Health Specialty Pharmacy compared to other specialty pharmacies.

All Novant Health team members may have prescriptions for non-specialty medications filled at any Walgreens location and receive Tier 1 copayment pricing. This means you will have a lower copayment for routine prescriptions ordered from Walgreens.

Walgreens operates nearly 10,000 locations nationally, many with 24-hour and drive-through access. To find the one nearest to you, call 1-800-WALGREENS, download the Walgreens app, or visit Walgreens.com/findastore.

To offer convenience and lower prices, team members and their dependents with health insurance from Novant Health who have a specialty prescription are encouraged to fill through Novant Health Specialty Pharmacy. Specialty medications are often more expensive requiring special handling, storage or methods of administration.

At Novant Health, our specialty pharmacy team works directly with your doctor to ensure your medications are carefully monitored. Pharmacists are also available to provide counseling, assistance and support for you, either in person or by phone. Other benefits of using our specialty pharmacies include:

Affordability

  • Lower co-payment compared to other specialty pharmacies

Convenience

  • Free home delivery
  • Service at any Novant Health Specialty Pharmacy location
  • Multiple payment options, including Novant Health payroll deduction, cash, check, VISA, MasterCard, Discover, FSA and HRA cards

Simplicity

  • No-hassle transfer of prescriptions from other pharmacies.

In addition to Walgreens and Novant Health pharmacies, employees of Novant Health UVA Health System and their dependents may fill non-specialty prescriptions at the pharmacy located at the Prince William Medical Center. Simply tell your provider to call 703-369-8018, or drop off your prescription at 8700 Sudley Rd., Manassas, VA 202110.
