Caring for your child during a medical emergency is one of life’s most stressful challenges. Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center provides the expert care you need to get your child back to living a healthy and active life. For example, we offer a variety of pediatric services including emergency care, surgical procedures and physical therapy.

Our staff of healthcare professionals is dedicated to taking very special care of your little one every step of the way. We partner with a wide range of pediatric specialists to provide expert care for your child.

Neonatal intensive care unit

While the vast majority of babies are born healthy, sometimes the need for special care arises. Our level IV (the highest certification attainable in North Carolina) neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) specializes in treating premature and critically-ill newborns.

Our NICU has sophisticated monitoring equipment, a respiratory lab and dedicated support services. The NICU is staffed at all times by a team of board-certified neonatal nurse practitioners, registered nurses and doctors who specialize in the care of premature and sick babies. You can rest easy knowing your child is receiving the best care possible.

Pediatric emergency department

Novant Health Pediatric Emergency Department is the Charlotte region’s first emergency department dedicated exclusively to the needs of children. With on-site access to more than 25 different types of pediatric specialists, including a dedicated pediatric emergency staff, this facility can provide the care your child needs when every second counts.

Novant Health Hemby Children's Hospital

We collaborate with Novant Health Hemby Children's Hospital, which provides comprehensive medical care for children – from newborns to teens.

We also offer a dedicated pediatric transport vehicle that transports critically-ill children to Hemby Children's Hospital when more advanced care is needed. The Novant Health Community Care Cruiser is a 40-foot mobile clinic that provides immunizations and sports physicals to un- and under-insured youth who cannot afford them. Led by a medical director, nursing staff and social worker, the cruiser visits identified under-served areas of the community to make accessing healthcare easier for those in need.
