Individuals with chronic illnesses like diabetes and heart disease often require life-long medical care. Choosing the right doctor for the journey can make a difference. That's why many of Novant Health's affiliated physicians are working to attain national heart/stroke and diabetes recognition.

The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), along with the American Heart/Stroke Association and the American Diabetes Association, have established a Physician Recognition Program. The program is designed to improve the quality of care patients receive by recognizing physicians who deliver quality diabetes and heart/stroke care. That's important because quality care can decrease the chance of complications that might affect quality of life for patients.

Many of Novant Health's physicians have attained diabetes and/or heart/stroke recognition. When choosing a physician to manage your diabetic or heart/stroke care, you can trust the doctors affiliated with Novant Health.

Heart/stroke recognition

Heart disease and stroke are two leading causes of death in our country. Despite evidence that reducing cholesterol levels and controlling high blood pressure are effective in preventing further health complications, many cardiac and stroke patients do not receive this important care.
