As an osteopathic physician, DO, Dr. Elkins specializes in taking care of the whole person. He treats the patient, not the disease, and addresses the problem, not only the symptoms. He also specializes in musculoskeletal, sports medicine and osteopathic manipulation. Dr. Elkins believes the doctor's best tools are listening, compassion and caring hands. He is a past president of North Carolina Osteopathic Medical Association and is active in healthcare policy at the state and national level. Dr. Elkins is on the teaching faculty at several medical schools. Outside the office, Dr. Elkins enjoys exercising, running, and obstacle course racing. He is married and the proud dad of two daughters who are competitive gymnasts.
