Performance expectations

Grading evaluations for all courses is based on the following scale:

100-93 ...A
92-85 ...B
84-77 ...C
76-70 ...D
69-0 ...F

AP-Academic Probation CP-Clinical Probation P-Pass F-Fail WP-Withdrew Passing WF-Withdrew Failing

Students must maintain an 85% final average in each didactic course and clinical education course to remain in good academic standing.

Graduation requirements

To graduate, the student must:

  • Successfully complete all didactic radiography courses with a grade of 85% or higher
  • Successfully complete all clinical education courses with a grade of 85% or higher
  • Successfully complete all assigned clinical education competencies and re-competencies
  • Complete all assigned clinical education time or make-up time
  • Turn in Novant Health ID badge, radiation monitor and all checked-out materials
  • Have a financial balance of $00.00 with the program

Grievance Procedure

If a student is dissatisfied with any academic grade/status, Clinical Education evaluation/status, probationary or termination action, he/she may file an appeal. The following are the steps to follow:

Step 1 -If the student is dissatisfied with a decision, specific grade or final course average, the student must schedule a conference with the faculty member. A request for this conference shall be made within one week of the time the grade or final course average was received by the student. At the time of the student's conference, the faculty member may answer questions or substantiate the reason for a particular grade to the student's satisfaction.

Step 2 -If the student is still dissatisfied with the decision, grade or evaluation, he/she may submit an appeal in writing to the Program Director. This appeal must be submitted within one week after the initial conference with the faculty member or the date of the decision.

Step 3 -The student will receive notification of a conference within one week of the time the written appeal was received by the Program Director. The program faculty, the Medical Advisor or representative, and the Director of Radiology or representative will conduct this conference and the student is required to attend. Additional representative from Radiology administration may also participate. During the proceedings, the student has the right to offer witnesses on his/her behalf and/or to speak on his/her behalf. If the student does not attend the conference, it will be assumed the student has dropped the appeal and no change in decisions will be made. The student will be notified in writing of a decision within oneweek of the conference.

Step 4 -If the student is dissatisfied with the decision, a second written appeal should be submitted to the Program Director within one week of the decision. The student will receive notification of a conference within one week of the time the second written appeal was received by the Program Director. A Novant Health Vice President or a representative from Human Resources will conduct this conference and the student is required to attend. During the proceedings, the student has the right to offer witnesses on his/her behalf and/or to speak on his/her behalf. Representatives from the first appeal may also speak. If the student does not attend the conference, it will be assumed the student has dropped the appeal andno change in decisions will be made. The student will be notified in writing of a final decision within one week of the conference.
