Adolescent trauma and depression care


Novant Health is hosting its first joint Psychiatry and Pediatric Symposium in two convenient locations. Attendees will gain knowledge on adverse childhood experiences, resiliency, talking with parents and caregivers, and the new depression pathways.

Learning objectives


  • Identify at least three sources of childhood trauma that can lead to long-term chronic health conditions.
  • Implement a screening tool to assess patients for childhood trauma and have a follow-up, trauma-informed plan of care for identified patients within six months.
  • Prepared to have conversations with and offer resources to caregivers of teen patients with major depression.
  • Identify two benefits from administering a PHQ9 depression questionnaire to patients.
