Understanding the healing power of integrative medicine
The goal of this symposium is to provide an opportunity for medical professionals to explore how and when they can use evidence-based complementary medical therapies, as well as dietary and lifestyle changes, when caring for cancer patients.
Integrative oncology is a field of cancer care that combines the best of conventional medical treatments with complementary therapies to improve patients’ health and quality of life. Complementary therapies such as meditation encourage patients to be more involved in looking after their well-being before, during and after treatment. Other therapies, such as acupuncture, can help manage disease- and treatment-related side effects.
In this symposium, medical professionals will discuss the benefits of integrative medicine as a part of cancer care. We anticipate that this will be the first of a series of annual integrative medicine events.
Continuing education credits (CEs) will be offered at this event for providers, nurses and pharmacists. More details will be available soon.
