Medicine captured my imagination, admiration and appreciation very early on in my life. After a gymnastics sports injury as a teenager, I went from being immobile to competing again in the span of four months, thanks to my orthopedic surgeon. The experience felt like something close to magic. Needless to say, it had a lasting impact on me and was the catalyst for my pursuit of a career in medicine.
