Ever since I was a child, I was drawn to a career in healthcare. Initially I wanted to become a counselor, but part way through my master's degree program, I realized I wanted a more hands-on field of medicine. I looked into many different areas and felt a spark when I was given the opportunity to shadow a physician assistant, also called a PA. I have a doctoral-level PA degree, which is uncommon among PAs and advanced practice providers.
