The field of medicine has excited me ever since I was in high school. At that time, my neighbor was an orthopedic surgeon who would regularly take me along for his hospital rounds and surgeries. That early exposure was immediately gripping, and I knew from that point forward that I wanted the privilege of caring for others. Neurosurgery was a natural fit. Being part of an elite team tackling complex problems, both intellectually and physically, was my path.
