Dr Shona Martin is a God given gift to the community~ how fortunate we are to have been provided quality safe patient care from such a qualified PCP. We love her ~
Dr. Martin has very set ideas about "Big Pharma" which are generally negative. She goes through various variations on her perspective at most visits. For at least 2 years, I have had concern about my weight. She offered advice and guidance and naltrexone, but is not very positive on the 2 major weight loss medications. After 2 years, and trying 5 different interventions (4 that I came p with through my own research and/or with other providers), I found a local nurse practitioner who prescribed tirzepetide. I have lost 30 lbs in 9 months. Dr. Martin was happy that I had lost the weight, but very negative about using compounded form of tirzepetide and told about people who gain more back than they lost or ended up in the hospital. Meanwhile, I am thinking that it was "no thanks to her" that I finally found a solution after 5 different attempts and now "Negative Nancy" is predicting bad things for my future. I did call my nurse practitioner after leaving the office to ask her (1) where is the compounded tirzepetide coming from? Answer: Registered pharmacey "We Care" in McLean, VA - not India or China. Same place she has been using for the last 6.5 years. (2) Am I prescribed more than the FDA recommends? Answer: We measure in units, so your 20 units is the equivalent of 7.5 mg, so within FDA recommendations. I felt reassured after the scary things that Dr Martin was saying.
Dr. Martin has been my caregiver for 20 plus years. Best doctor I've ever had.
Dr. Martin is T Best!!he
I have a chronic back pain and I feel that she is thinking of discontinuing my pain meds which is a mild narcotic. I do not over use but I have pain. I will go back to pain clinic but so far that has not alleviated this issue and may not completely. I will always need some secondary avenues for relief. Very concerned
