My path to medicine began in the sixth grade. My grandmother, who was caring for me at the time, encouraged me to pursue whatever I set my mind to. Around that same time, my science teacher shared a story about a loved one's experience receiving medical care. Hearing that story and the connection the physician made with that patient is what first sparked my interest in medicine. That moment stayed with me.
