I have what may be an unusual reason for going into orthopedics and sports medicine: I like solving problems.
Injuries and movement patterns, to me, are really human engineering. Diagnosing the issue and tailoring a rehab protocol to the patient's unique needs and goals bring me a lot of satisfaction. So does educating patients on they can do to gain control of their rehabilitation experience. How successful rehab is has a lot to do with the patient's motivation.
